Advancing a Culture of Giving

Make it stand out.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Giving Summit

The Giving Summit™ brings together community-minded Korean Americans from across the country to celebrate giving in its many forms. Inviting trailblazers, experts, and innovators in philanthropy and social impact, we examine how we individually and collectively make a difference in our communities.

Participatory Grantmaking:
Community Grants Committee

Each year, we invite our community to participate in our grantmaking process through the Community Grants Committee (CGC). The CGC helps review grant applications, visits nonprofits applying for funding to learn more about their work, and make recommendations for funding.

Through the CGC, aims to educate and inspire Korean Americans to think more strategically about how they engage with and give back to their communities. Over 250 people have volunteered to participate in our grantmaking process since the CGC was piloted in 2008.

Banchan Box Party

creatives from diverse backgrounds came together to support KACF, channeling their talents to bring people together and give back. KACF continues to advance a culture of giving, fostering a strong, vibrant Korean American community. By bridging generosity with need, we are not only providing support but also inspiring a new generation of givers who are committed to making a difference.

"Anyone can be a philanthropist by donating time, money, or even your creativity and skills. Personalize your philanthropy—use your passion to uplift and invest in your community.” - Jumee

“For us, banchan evokes so many warm memories: gathering around the table for family meals, lining up with a paper plate at church potlucks, boisterous late nights in K-Town. No matter where you are sitting down for a meal, the collective power of all the colorful and fragrant side dishes help nourish and delight. We want to harness that energy back into the world.” - Hannah, Eunice, Christine & Judy

In the fall of 2021, four friends—Hannah Asbrink, Eunice Byun, Christine Byun, and Judy Kim—met over food and drinks and began talking about how they could give back to the Korean American community.

They brought together their fellow Korean American food creatives to contribute their favorite banchan or Korean treat to boxes that would be sold to raise funds in support of KACF. This included their friend Jumee Song, a Korean American foundation leader who personally underwrote the cost of the project.

KACF is a convening and connector, bridging talent and resources to the needs of our community. We provide a space for "giving" and sharing that is distinctly Korean, cultivating a spirit of generosity and community that is deeply rooted in our cultural values.

Held on Lunar New Year, the Banchan Box Party was a resounding success, completely selling out of boxes and raising $X. Korean American food
